Numbers Matter

Numbers matter

“Nevertheless, more and more men and women believed in the Lord and were added to their number, ” (Acts 5:14).

Congratulations to all our brothers and sisters for allowing the congregation to have the fabulous experience we had last weekend. First was an awesome youth rally on Saturday followed by a great worship service Sunday morning. Sunday was particularly encouraging as we had one hundred and one (101) souls in attendance. We are praying that we will consistently exceed a hundred each week. The Lord pays attention to numbers, we see this in the Jerusalem Church which began with nearly 3000, (Acts 2:41). Next we are told the men numbered about 5,000 (Acts 4:4), followed by the captioned text where multitudes of men and women were added to the Church, ( Acts 5:14). In Acts 6:1, “the number of disciples was increasing,” and in Acts 6:7, “The number of disciples in Jerusalem increased rapidly, and a large number of priests became obedient to the faith.” Collectively, we are praying to our Lord that the Patchogue Church experience similar growth. This growth begins with our attendance each week. Let us continue to be consistent with our attendance so that visitors see that we are a body of believers committed to the growth and development of the Lord’s Church. We are on the right path, going in the right direction, so let us continue to allow the grace of our Lord Jesus to lead us into His pathways of righteousness. Let us pray,

“Heavenly Father we are excited and encouraged by the growth you are giving to the Patchogue Church. We can see that Your good hand rests on the congregation and so our prayers are being answered; the brethren are united and our hearts are filled with the desire to serve You and to do only Your will. We thank You Father for this experience and pray that we will continue to grow in your grace and goodness. Father several of our families and friends are grieving over the loss of their loved ones, we pray Father that you may comfort their hearts and give them courage to be even more determined to serve you. We pray also Father for our friends and members who are seeking jobs, asking that You open a door of opportunity for them Father so they can better support your Church financially and provide for their families. Finally Father we present to you our plans for the upcoming gospel meeting, asking that you will give us another big success; we pray that the meeting will take our members to a higher spiritual plain of commitment and dedication and that the visitors will be convicted by your gospel and turn their lives over to Jesus our Lord. Father please continue to be merciful to us as our shortcomings are always before us. Forgive us of our sins and enable us to continue to glorify you name, as pray in the precious name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.”
